Our Company Profile

At Akshay Incorporation, research forms our core activity, giving end-to-end specialty packaging solutions and long term preservation against metal corrosion, and have focused all our efforts directed towards harnessing and leveraging the power of technology to benefit businesses and consumers at large from the menace of Corrosion.

We interact pro-actively with customer for viable solutions to satisfy their identified and unidentified packaging needs. We do not believe in just providing cost cutting solutions, but deliver effective solutions.

Our research team looks forward for the innovative ideas and customized, accepts challenges and works on evolving product-need based solutions.

Corrosion protection of metal surfaces remains a pervasive and costly problem for long-term storage and shipment of military parts and equipment, particularly when parts must be clean, corrosion free and ready to use directly out of the package or shipping container. Vapor corrosion inhibitor materials were created about two decades ago in various forms of polyolefin plastics that release volatile molecules over long periods of time. This fundamental invention of formulations and processes for making VCI plastic materials provided the basis for the continuing innovation in this technology, including polyethylene films, bags, foams, vapor capsules, tubes, rods and molded containers for an expanding range of applications. Their effectiveness and cost advantages in protecting parts and systems from corrosion have resulted in replacement of oil coating and desiccants in commercial applications that parallel military usage.

Many of the metallic parts, components, and finished machines produced by the manufacturing industries may have bare metal surfaces which require to be protected until brought into use, or receive inter stage protection prior to further assembly or processing. They may be finished metallic parts, which need to receive some form of protection from corrosion during shipping or storage, or they may require some form of protection from corrosion whilst in use. Typical examples are automotive parts which require protection for a few days, weeks or months, fasteners, steel strip, steel sections, drawn sections of steel, aluminum alloys, or yellow metals etc, during a delay in the manufacture and supply schedule.

The material may need to provide protection when exposed to a variety of different corrosive atmospheres, indoors, outdoors either under cover or fully exposed, in a marine environment, under effects of direct sunlight, perhaps in a radiation flux, in the presence of specific chemical corrosives in an industrial environment etc.

During its protective period, it needs to give adequate freedom from corrosion of bare metal surfaces for a predetermined length of time in manufacture, assembly, storage or distribution. The term of protection will need to be determined for each application, in line with other requirements, and the type of protective selected to suit.

Since temporary protective are invariable used in inter-stage manufacturing operations, they may need to be compatible or in harmony with later stages in the production operations. Particularly compatibility with any materials such as paints, adhesives, sealants etc., which may be applied to the metal surface at a later stage is important, even though there may be prior removal / degreasing / cleaning operations.

Akshay Incorporation

  • The chemicals in Protec products used are volatile in nature which emits a non toxic vapor. The vapor is diffused throughout the enclosure. When metals are wrapped or packaged in Protec, the chemicals volatize the packaging environment and form a protective molecular layer on the surface of the metal. This protective layer prevents moisture, salt, dirt, oxygen and other materials from depositing on the metal and causing corrosion.
  • The inhibiting layer Is maintained as long as the product remains in the Protec package, Electron scanning further shows that once the contents are removed from the Protec package, the layer revolatilizes from the content’s surfaces within two hours, leaving a clean dry and corrosion free product- the Protec, inhibitors apply themselves. The protective mechanism enables parts to arrive ready for immediate use—no special handling procedures or chemicals to soil or damage the product.
  • Protec systems have proven their effectiveness as metal protectors for the world’s most demanding customers. Protec packaging products are an elegant solution to the problems of protecting metals.

Pre Cleaning & Removal

  • It is generally accepted that the performance of a coating system is improved by good surface preparation before application.
  • For temporary protection the requirements are less onerous and will depend on the component being protected and its surface condition.
  • In general surfaces must be free from contaminants that are corrosive, or may impair adhesion or continuity of coating, or restrict access of inhibiting vapors.
  • The contaminant will normally dictate the choice of preparation. • Enumerated below are few possible methods of ensuring the cleaning of the various equipment.
  • Enumerated below are few possible methods of ensuring the cleaning of the various equipment.
  • Solvent De-greasing.
  • An alkali wash.
  • Steam cleaning would remove oil or grease
  • Mechanical, acid and electrolytic techniques could be employed to remove scale or rust.
  • In some cases a simple water wash may be sufficient but others may require a combination of more than one treatment.
